The design for this residence set in Ithaca above the Fall Creek gorge was inspired by the site, a family, and the residential work of Jørn Utzon. My process began by studying Utzon's work, then analyzing the site, and finally getting to know the family of the future home. Set in a historic man-made cut, this home seeks to heal a nearly 100 year old scar in the landscape and provide a minimal, functional, and elegant residence.
